Some seats are just harder to fill

It’s Tuesday afternoon. You still have six spots left to fill for your experience the day before.

Your guide is ready. The experience is happening anyway. If no one books them, that revenue is gone.

GetYourGuide and Viator help put those spots in front of travelers who are already looking for something to do.

Connect them to Understory, and your bookings and availability stay in sync automatically. More chances to fill your seats, without more admin or double bookings.

Why use Understory

You don’t need more tools. You need one system that works.

Your booking engine, calendar, website, marketing, and marketplace channels shouldn’t live in separate systems.

With Understory, they work together in one place. That means fewer integrations to maintain, less manual work, and a clearer view of where your bookings come from.

How it works

More bookings. Less calendar chaos.

Step 1

Connect your favorite marketplace.

Link GetYourGuide, Viator, or Truestory to Understory.

Step 2

One calendar runs the show.

Wherever a guest books, the booking lands in the same place. Your Understory calendar is always the full picture.

Step 3

Sell every seat without worrying about double bookings.

A seat can only sell once, so you can put your full calendar on sale instead of holding spots back.

Be where guests book

More bookings. Less calendar chaos.

Market your experiences

Tripadvisor

Market your experiences

Viator

Market your experiences

GetYourGuide, Viator, Tripadvisor, and more connect straight to your Understory calendar, so your availability is right wherever guests find you. More channels are on the way.

Commission is expensive. Empty seats are worse.

Yes, marketplaces take a cut of every booking. But when they fill seats you couldn’t fill yourself, that commission can be worth it.

Direct bookings through your website should still be your foundation. You keep the full price and the guest relationship, while OTAs help fill the gaps.

Understory brings both into one system, so you can see where bookings come from and decide where to focus.

FAQs

Answers to your questions

Which marketplaces can I connect to?

GetYourGuide, Viator, Tripadvisor, and Truestory today. We’re continuously working on adding more.

Do you manage my marketplace listings?

No, and that's on purpose. Your descriptions, photos, prices and commission terms live in the marketplace portal, and they stay there. That's where you decide how your experience is presented and what it costs.

What we synchronize is availability and bookings. We connect your Understory calendar to listings that already exist, so your availability is right on every channel and every booking lands in one place.

You keep the relationship with the marketplace, and you keep your listings if you ever leave us.

Is there a fee on bookings coming through marketplaces?

Yes. We charge a 1.75% fee on bookings you get through GetYourGuide, Viator, and other connected platforms. Bookings through your own website and storefront are fee-free.

I use Bokun or FareHarbor today. What happens if I switch?

Your marketplace listings stay yours. They live in your GetYourGuide and Viator accounts, not in ours, so moving to Understory means pointing them at a new calendar instead of rebuilding them from scratch.

How fast does availability update?

Instantly. When a spot sells, a session is added, or a booking is canceled in Understory, the change is pushed to your connected marketplaces straight away.

Do my prices sync from Understory?

No. You set your prices in each channel yourself.

What happens when a guest books through a marketplace?

The booking appears in your normal Understory booking list, labeled with the channel it came from, and the spot is taken everywhere at once. You run the day exactly as you would for a direct booking.

Who sends the confirmation email when a guest books your experience via a marketplace?

The marketplace does. GetYourGuide and Viator handle all guest communication for the bookings they sell, so we don't send confirmations or reminders for those. It keeps the guest experience consistent with what they booked through.

Can I decide which experiences appear on a marketplace?

Yes. You connect the experiences you want to sell there and leave the rest out. You can do the same with ticket types, so a local resident rate can stay on your own site only.

Can I use marketplace integration without using Understory for bookings?

No. The whole point is that one calendar holds the truth, and that calendar is your Understory calendar.

Can I disconnect a marketplace later?

Yes, any time, from your integration settings. Worth knowing that disconnecting clears your ticket matching and connection setup, so reconnecting later means setting it up again.
